Still a stalemate
Here we are into the new year and the battle for living room supremacy between HD DVD and Blu-ray have yet to yield a clear winner, leading us to nothing but a stalemate. ABI Research claims that by the time 2012 rolls around, universal drives capable of handling both formats will be winners in computers – not consoles like the PS3 or the Xbox 360 with its HD DVD add-on. According to principal analyst Steve Wilson, “Few universal drives are sold today partly because of their higher price. But those prices will fall to about the same as Blu-ray players by 2009, and we forecast universal player sales to exceed Blu-ray the following year.” Have you yielded to the high definition pressure already? If yes, which camp do you root for?

Neither. We are talking about format rights competition and the consumer does not profit if one format runs supreme over the other. Let them fight.
