Solar Keyring Torch

by Edwin

solar-keyring-torch.jpgThe Solar Keyring Torch ensures you no longer have to fumble at the door whenever arrive home after a late night date, as it provides ample light from a trio of LEDs to keep your keyhole illuminated. Since it is solar-powered, there is no need to worry about dead batteries as well.

The best things in life are free, and sunlight is pretty well at the top of the list. The only trouble is of course, that the sun has a regular habit of shuffling off to the other side of the world leaving everything a little dark round here. Fortunately this little gizmo ensures that the sun leaves a little light behind that you can carry around with you on a key ring. It’s integral mini solar panel stores up energy from the sun and via it’s three super-bright LEDs becomes a blazing and very useful little torch when night falls. Many of these sorts of solar powered lights can have a tendency to be a tad lame, but this one is not only astonishingly bright, it also lasts for an absurdly long period of time, so long in fact that we don’t know how long it is – we got bored waiting for it to run out of power. It comes in a shock resistant rubber casing, and naturally requires no batteries, ever. Free light for life.

I Want One of Those is selling the Solar Keyring Torch for £7.99.

C-jump will teach your kids how to program

by Chris

C-Jump

Programming has never been my forte. While I can do enough HTML to put together a very basic website, however, I couldn’t code my way out of a wet paper bag. Now had this board game been out when I was younger, that might be a different story.

USB Rotatable 4-Port Hub

by Edwin

rota-hub.jpg

USB hubs are always welcome in my home, especially with the vast amount of USB gadgets in the market these days. Some USB hubs come with a poorly-designed exterior, where the ports are placed too close together that you can’t make use of all of them whenever you’re faced with USB products that have rather fat connectors. The USB Rotatable 4-Port Hub offers the convenience of utilizing all four USB ports available, since it can be rotated accordingly. No harm in dropping $12 for a gadget like this IMHO, as it will definitely come in handy on your travels.

Urban Outfitters say it out loud

by Edwin

urbanheadphones.jpgUrban Outfitters have just unveiled a couple of headphones that are really too large for their own good, making an extremely pronounced stand where music playback is concerned. The Grande headphones will ship in a neon pink and green color or just plain black (which always stands against the test of time), accompanied by a coiled cord that makes carrying it around a whole lot less bulky. In addition, you can use the Grande headphones with your cell phone, allowing you to listen to your mom with greater clarity as she nags you on the umpteenth time to clear the room. As for the Stiloso headphones, they’re even more retro looking, so it really depends on your budget as to which headset to pick up. The Grande and Stiloso will retail for $70 and $52, respectively.

Portable iPod Video Enlarger And DVD Player

by Edwin

portable-ipod-enlarger.jpgLet’s face the facts – the iPod doesn’t exactly come with the largest display in the world now, does it? Being a portable media player to boot, screen real estate is a very important criteria to consider if you plan to watch countless hours of video on it.

This is the portable DVD player that integrates with 5th Generation video iPods, allowing you to watch iPod videos on a 8 1/2″, 16:9 widescreen LCD that is 2 3/4 times larger than the iPods screen. Using active matrix technology, the LCD can redraw images faster than typical LCD monitors, resulting in a sharper, more detailed resolution. An iPod slides into the front of the video player and is protected by a clear plastic cover, and the dual headphone jacks allow two people to use the video player without disturbing fellow travelers. The device has an AV port for output to a television, charges an iPod while in use, and has an on-screen menu display for quick set up. Rechargeable battery allows three hours of continuous DVD playback on a five-hour charge; four hours of iPod® video playback. Includes AC and DC adapters, carrying case, headphones, remote control, and a strap for attaching to a car headrest. Supports DVD, VCD, CDs, MP3 CDs, and iPod® video/music files.

Hammacher is currently carrying this item for $269.95.

Dell Inspiron 1525 dives into Blu-ray market

by Edwin

dell-inspiron-1525.jpgGoodbye HD DVD, hello Blu-ray. Standalone Blu-ray players used to cost a bomb (some of them still do, which was what made the Sony PS3 all the more attractive if you were looking for a firmware upgradeable Blu-ray player instead of a gaming machine first), and laptops that came with Blu-ray drives actually required you to sell off a kidney in order to own one. With the pseudo format wars behind them and Blu-ray emerging the victor in their tussle with Toshiba’s HD DVD, it is easier for companies to make a commitment as to include the winning format’s technology into their products. Take Dell, for example. This Texan computer giant has finally taken the plunge in the world of High Definition, offering a Blu-ray laptop that does not break the bank – retailing below the magical $1,000 mark. The laptop in question is the Inspiron 1525, featuring an optional Blu-ray optical drive with prices starting from $879 upwards.
