Army iPod Translator coming to Civilian World

by James

VCom Mobile

In Star Trek, they use the Universal Translator. It’s a cool gadget which allows our favorite characters to talk to other species without having to wait for a translation. Life has been imitating art in Iraq as troops at checkpoints have been using iPods equipped with a kind of universal translator to speak in Arabic to Iraqis while on mission.

FLY-est Ring a hoot

by Edwin

flyest-ring.jpg

While we’re on the subject of swatting flies, this FLY-est Ring is equal in wit with the DEL and ESC fly swatters. Most folks will probably be fooled into thinking that this is a real insect sitting on your finger, wondering how come you’re filthy enough to attract those pests. Some well-meaning person might even give your finger a sharp strike to kill it only to discover he/she has caused you nothing but pain, and also laughter at your practical joke’s success. Way too early for April Fool’s jokes if you ask me. There must be plenty of jokers around since the FLY-est ring is already sold out.

Fly swatting becomes fun again

by Edwin

delete-swatter.jpg

Nobody likes to squish a nasty fly during mealtimes, but this fly swatter definitely injects some much needed humor whenever you want to kill those pesky insects that are interrupting your meal.

This handy flyswatter works on windows or Macs…just think of it as a backspace for bugs! Delete is molded from high-tech plastic that’s flexible yet strong, and it hangs from the handy bead-chain loop. Charcoal, Ivory, or Assorted. Peggable recyclable clamshell packaging.

There is no word on pricing, but anything more than a couple of dollars is pure daylight robbery, although you could be paying for the sheer wit on this product.

    MacBook Air to get add-ons

    by Edwin

macbook-air-peripherals.jpgI’ve said it before, and I don’t mind saying it again. If you want to get rich quick, start up a company and design your own generic Apple add-ons and peripherals. Doing it for the iPod line alone is more than enough to make you rich, at least earn more money than the average Joe on the street. After all, there are dozens of iPod cases, sleeves, MacBook bags, iPod speaker docks – you name it, they have it. Never mind the brand (although good branding would go a long way in establishing you as the market leader), but most generic add-ons come slapped with a hastily designed logo. Apple themselves aren’t going to let this lucrative market go to waste, and hence they have announced that they will be carrying accessories for the recently released MacBook Air.

AMD targets gamers with new card

    by Edwin

    radeon-3870.jpg

AMD looks as though they have snatched victory away from rival NVIDIA with the latest Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics processing unit. Apparently, this two-chip graphics card offers nearly double the performance of the single chip Radeon HD 3870 which was rolled out last November which failed to make a dent in NVIDIA’s armor, so this latest effort means serious business by bringing one trillion floating point operations per second to the table – to further astound you, that’s the equivalent of a trillion mathematical calculations per second.

    Lego Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

    Google Lego Logo

If you’re the type who loves reading gadget blogs like this one, then you probably loved playing with Lego as a child. Or maybe you still play with Lego, because I know I do. There is no shame in that, and Lego maniacs of the world should unite in celebration today.

Today, Lego celebrates its 50th birthday. You might not think that Lego is that old, but the product itself is actually over 50 years old. It was actually developed in 1949, but it wasn’t perfected until 1958. I guess Lego wants to mark 1958 as its birthday because the bricks from that time still fit bricks of today.

Even Google, the world’s biggest search engine, joined in the celebration as they displayed their logo in Lego yesterday. Their normal logo is displayed today, but if you missed it yesterday, I have provided an artist’s representation on the left.
