Fun and Kid Friendly gadgets by Fred

ToDo Tatoo

I remember when I was in Jr. High. My PE teacher needed me to take something to the office. He didn’t have a hall pass handy, so he wrote it on the palm of my hand. How many of us have written down brief notes on our hands so as not to forget them? Now there’s a clever To-Do Tatoo which puts a to-do list where you’ll never lose it.

Pinkberry is the new Black

by Carolyn

pinkberry.jpgAs a member of the female population, I enjoy a number of things that don’t pertain exclusively to being a girl. I love video games, gadgets (as if writing on this site couldn’t make that point obvious) and all things tech related. Hell, I even love power tools – I’d much rather get a new power tool than a new pair of shoes. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy girly things like massages, gossip or the color pink.

Where I take objection to the whole “girl = pink” equation is when consumer electronics and gadgets are slathered in a coat of pink to “appeal to the female demographic”, well, it makes me want to punch a marketing executive.

Next in the long line of “girlifiying” gadgets is the new Continue reading » Blackberry Pearl 8130 in a pretty, pretty pink color. So, I’ll be calling it the PinkBerry (yes, I’m aware of the frozen dessert treat of the same name, but just work with me here) for purposes of this review. Pinkberry is the new Black

A Positive Review of the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk

by Mark R

Wireless Nunchuk

Normally, I avoid reporting on products that get too much coverage, unless I have something different to say about it. Such is the case with the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk, a product that other gadget blogs are really bashing unnecessarily.

I had a chance to try out the Nyko Wireless Nunchuk at CES 2008, and I absolutely adored it. A lot of gadget blogs are asking whether the product is really necessary, but I say: “Of course it is! This is the new millennium, and everything is going to be wireless by the time we reach the end of this millennium.”

Clearly, the negative reviewers have not played some of the Wii games that I play. For example, there are moves on the Dancing with the Stars video game that require moving the Wiimote and Nunchuk in a locomotion dance. The wire really gets in the way of the dancing, and so removing the wire makes it a lot easier. Also, I have a dog and a newborn baby who have this annoying habit of grabbing onto the connector wire while I’m trying to play. Now the doggy and baby won’t have anything to grab. Thank you, Nyko!

New Concept Stereo Allows You to “Sleep with Bamboo”

by Mark R

Bamboo concept

If the words “sleep with bamboo” got your attention, I want you to know that this phrase is not innuendo in any way. That’s right, it has nothing to do with having unnatural relations with a certain digital tablet and pen combination. So now that your mind is cleaned up, let’s talk about the Bamboo that this lady is sleeping with (in a non-sexual way).

The snuggle-able Bamboo is a very unique audio playing system that comes in three parts. The first part is the speakers. They are completely wireless and detachable, and they can be put anywhere within close range. These speakers can even attach to each other.

The second part is the control ring (for lack of a better word) with an integrated LCD screen. It is quite small compared to the rest of the Bamboo. In fact, the lady here is concealing it with her arm.

The third part is the base station which is a docking place for the Bamboo. The base station has a subwoofer and even a CD slot, believe it or not. To my surprise, there is no dock for an iPod, but there is an MP3 line-in.

IOGear announces Wireless USB CardBus Adapter

by Chris

Wireless USB

There are some technologies that I like to hold off on buying, no matter how great they seem. Take HD movies for example. Had I purchased one a few months ago, I’d likely be kicking myself, as I would have chosen to side with the HD DVD camp (which lets face it, is a sinking ship).Other times I fear that a technology may never catch on, and thus be useless altogether. This would be one reason why I haven’t jumped on board with Wireless USB (WUSB) just yet. I will admit, they are making it much easier to even get older hardware working with this new standard, which is apparent from the announcement of a CardBus WUSB adapter.

Keep close tabs on your teen driver with the Intellitrac X1

by Chris

Intellitrac X1

Do you enjoy the thought of spying on your loved ones? I can’t really say that I’m a fan of it, but I suppose if you’re an overprotective parent, you’ll go to great lengths to keep track of your teen. If you happen to be both overprotective and a tech junkie, I really feel sorry for your kids, as I have little doubt that you would put this X1 GPS tracking system to use in their vehicle.

Bone Conduction Headphones

by Al

Vibe Body Sound Headphones

If you want to listen to music but still be able to hear your surroundings then this is a cool solution, the Vibe Body Sound Headphones, listen to music through your bones.

The Vibe Body Sound headphones clip on to your outer ear and conduct vibrations through your skin and cartilage. Those vibrations rumble through your skull directly to your inner ear where you hear them clear as a bell. All the while, your ear canal remains uncovered, allowing the sounds from the environment access as well. Carry on conversations and never skip a beat.

They have 3 effective volume (vibration) levels, low, medium, and tectonic! Which sounds somewhat skull rattling. You can buy the Vibe conduction headphones from Think Geek for $99.99.
