Cameraphone to function as a mouse?
Now this is rather weird, but researchers have successfully come up with a way to make your cameraphone function as a mouse – whenever you’re not receiving or making a call, naturally. This software relies on Bluetooth technology to keep it going, and enables the cell phone to interact with public displays. For example, users can obtain product information or purchase tickets simply by using the camera. Unfortunately, this idea still requires a great deal of work before it is ready for a commercial release since the image capture and image processing rate on the cell phone is rather slow, and you have to deal the with the lag.

AT&T gives free WiFi access to DSL subscribers

For the first time since I switched to 10MB down cable internet, I wish I were still using my old AT&T DSL line. Actually it would take a lot to get me to go back to something that slow, but they sure are making it rather appealing. I’m talking about AT&T’s recent announcement to give DSL customers free access to any of their ten thousand WiFi hotspots.

Insecta takes flight
This strange looking helicopter-insect hybrid known as the Insecta is yet another remote controlled toy to keep the kid within you entertained.
With its big glowing eyes, bug-ish legs, LED strobe light, colorful camouflaged body and membranous X-rotors, the rechargeable Insecta looks as if it’s just flown out of a sci-fi movie or the twisted mind of a comic book creator. Indeed you might feel like wearing your pants outside your tights every time you take to the skies. Or not. Also available in blue or green!
With the Insecta, you don’t have to worry about the weather outside as this little critter is very much capable of indoor flight, albeit it will be rather cramped (while risking the missus’ wrath). Still, you can risk sleeping on the couch for the night by handing over £19.95 to Firebox for the Insecta.
WiFi coming to American Airlines flights
Business executives who can’t seem to wean themselves off e-mail, even in a short flight will be pleased to know that American Airlines could be bringing WiFi service to some of their flights in the near future as the airline company will soon roll out WiFi service tests on selected Boeing 767-200s. American Airlines will use Aircell’s Internet broadband connectivity gear in these jets, with the ultimate aim of equipping all 15 of their 767-200s with broadband service before the year is over.

Wooden Postcards

When on holiday I am not renowned for sending postcards to people. I suppose I could use a service like WYWH.mobi but I reckon these postcards may be a bit primitive but hey they’re cool, wooden postcards.
With these postcards you’ve got to scratch and carve in your message using a knife, keys or something. Which makes sending cards a bit more manly in my book. I wonder if there’ll be prehistoric version, were you’ve got to write Flintstone style, the postage might hurt a bit with that idea.
You can buy the wooden postcards from zSuaro £6.95 (~$14).
Zero ink printing technology
I’ve been waiting for news like this for a long, long time. Who over here agrees with me that those pesky inkjet printer manufacturers make a killing over the sales of ink cartridges? I mean, the ink inside is literally worth their weight in gold, and gallon for gallon is way more expensive that what the entire world is running short of – petrol. Here’s news on zero-ink printing technology that represents a significant and far-reaching advance in printing technology which has the potential to capture the imagination of the entire world. How does zero-ink printing technology work, you ask? Well faithful readers, head on after the jump and be enlightened.

When you’re on the bus or subway, or anywhere that people tend to be sitting for long periods you tend to notice that many of them are listening to MP3 players. What’s more is that you can almost always pick out the ones rocking out to an iPod by their iconic white earbuds. Most people I know that carry an iPod still use the same earbuds that came with the player because they like the way they look and sound. Well if you’re one that likes the look, here’s a giant pair you can sit on your desktop.
