CSR drops news that its very own BlueCore5-Multimedia silicon will be featured in Toyota’s new G-BOOK mX and G-BOOK mX Pro telematics and navigation devices. The G-BOOK enables users to stream crystal clear audio to their car stereo system sans wires from a plethora of devices such as cellphones, MP3 players and personal media devices. In addition to audio streaming, it also doubles up as a hands-free device, claiming to provide great audio quality at all times while helping you keep your eyes peeled on the road.
The BlueCore5-Multimedia was developed especially for advanced high audio quality car applications. When it is set in hands-free mode, it leverages the integrated digital signal processor (DSP) to offer best in class echo cancellation. For those who love their music, the BlueCore5-Multimedia will use the integrated CODEC to achieve a signal-to-noise ratio of -95dB. Not only that, this nifty device comes with a transmit power of +8dBm and reception sensitivity at -90dBm. Such performance figures means the transmission range is greatly increased, resulting in enhanced reception quality. For the curious, the BlueCore5-Multimedia is compatible with the majority of Bluetooth profiles required for a car application, including the Bluetooth Audiovisual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) that enables Toyota the option of including remote control functionality in future iterations of G-BOOK.
According to Rafik Jallad, Vice President of CSR’s Automotive Business Unit, “BlueCore5-Multimedia has been specifically designed for mono and stereo Bluetooth headset applications and delivers an unprecedented level of voice and music quality. By putting more focus on strong DSP architecture, which integrates more technologies with the Bluetooth radio, we can continue to help our customers to improve their time to market. CSR is committed to developing solutions for the automotive market and working with top tier companies such as Toyota further highlights the competency and intelligence of our products.”
