LG Venus goes pink
December 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Mobile Phones
I’m not sure what the world’s obsession is with pink gadgets, but it seems that every other device that has ridden up the popularity charts these days will eventually roll out a special pink color version that cater specifically to women. Is this marketing ploy really that effective? I suppose the answer is in the affirmative since it has been done over and over again without any sign of stopping. It appears that the marketing team at LG have taken this route with their Venus handset, which previously was most popular by being black. This time, the LG Venus will come in pink and is an exclusive model from Verizon Wireless.
You won’t find any dropped specifications here as everything but the color remains the same as the original. This means the pink LG Venus will feature a 2 megapixel camera, VZ Navigator capability, a microSD memory card slot that supports up to another 8GB of memory, dual screen displays where the lower one boasts touchscreen capability, as well as access to V CAST Music and V CAST Video. Folks who sign up will be able to gain access to over 2.5 million songs which can be purchased and downloaded over-the-air to the phone; while V CAST Video enables users to enjoy news, sports and entertainment video clips on-the-go. This multi-tasking handset allows one to browse the Web while listening to music simultaneously without experiencing any slowdown.
You can pick up the pink LG Venus for $199.99 - the same price as its black counterpart after dropping in a $50 mail-in rebate as well as signing up for a 2-year customer agreement. This exclusive handset will be made available at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, including those in Circuit City. Do you think pink is the way to go just for a quick boost in sales?
