Handheld webcam makes PoV shots a breeze

POV Cam

When you think of a webcam, a small sphere that looks something like an eye generally comes to mind. Sure, you have a few that are shaped differently to fit on laptops and such, but there’s really not a lot of variety. This general conformity to a single shape doesn’t allow them to be used for much more than just recording you while you’re sitting in front of your computer. If you’re wanting to record scenes from the first person perspective, you might consider this new webcam from IPEVO.

This new PoV handheld webcam is shaped so that it can easily be held in your hand so that you can easily carry it for first person shots, or for up-close video of objects. Sure, you can try to carry a spherical webcam around to capture similar footage, but you’ll have a much harder time doing so. You’ll also see features like adjustable focus, automatic white balance and a built-in microphone.

I can’t see how anyone would be able to use this for long scenes, as you would still be tethered to your PC by the USB cable. There is currently no word on pricing or availability.
