I just ripped open a My Passport Studio 320Gb Firewire400/USB external drive and got a scorpio BEVT out of it. Swapped it for the dead hard drive in my macbook. Works like a champ. I’ll be posting a picture tutorial soon on a website near you. It should be popular enough to show up in a google result in a week or two. Not sure where to put it yet though.

Stop the deception. The SATA2 bus may be capable of 3Gb/s but no single drive on the planet will “hit 3Gb/s transfer rates.” Platter-to-buffer speeds are MUCH less, and that is what counts.

I’ve been eyeing the blazing fast 200GB 7200RPM Hitachi at Newegg for my laptop for a while. Something like this 320GB would be even better except that it’s only 5400RPM.
