Waterproofing your iPod lets you Swim Differently
by James in Audio/Video Gadgets, Sport, iPod gadgetsIt’s common practice people working out while rocking to their favorite tunes on iPod. But sadly, up until recently swimmers have had to rely on the theater of the mind to keep them occupied while they skimmed the waters lap after lap. Now budding Mark Spitzes can rock out just like everyone else thanks to the Neoprene Swimbelt … and a few other accessories that will waterproof your iTouch so it doesn’t short out from the water as you do the butterfly.
Along with the neoprene rubber belt, which costs around $40, fitness geeks will have to invest in a waterproof case for around $80 and waterproof headphones which weigh in at around half that. So, for around the the cost of a second Nano, swimmers can protect their Touch and enjoy it at the same time.

The waterproof case and headphones are good to a submersible depth of up to 10ft/3m thanks to the patented “LatchTight™” locking system and comes available for all models including 5th generation video iPods. The Case’s “Commander Scroll Wheel” allows for complete control of all playlist underwater while contributing to the cases impact-resistant protection.
While it would give me second thoughts to risk my iPod, the concept is actually a great idea for swimmers who either want to listen to an audio book, their favorite tunes, or the play by play of previous races as motivation to reach those record breaking times.
