Latest Tech News – 29 October
A dramatic story deserves a dramatic end, and the Free Jamie chronicle is all that.
Jammie Thomas was the first person to actually present a defense in trial after being accused of illegal file sharing and a fine set at over $200,000.
Sadly, the Jury didn’t like her defense that was related to someone spoofing her IP address. Take in consideration that we’re not talking about a high number of songs, less than 30.
Lets go back and take a look at some numbers about Jamie and the whole scenario:
- 1 single mother (making less then $40,000 per year)
– 2 children
– 24 songs being shared
– fine valued at $222,000
Does it make sense?
So, how does one try to gain some money to solve this problem? Easy – by selling merchandise with the “Free Jamie. Free Everyone” words to exploit the case. There are t-shirts, sweatshirts, boxers, thongs, dog shirts, mugs, caps, bags, and more.

- Mercedes C320 clock – was ahead of time on Sunday
– Treo cellphone – was one hour behind of time
– BlackBerry Curve – set the time one hour ahead
