Firefox on your Mobile Phone

Firefox on your Mobile

Just as we launched the mobile version of Coolest Gadgets ( coolest-gadgets.mobi ), Mozilla announce that they are committed to bringing a new version of the popular browser Firefox to mobile devices. You’ve been able to download minimo for a while but this will soon be scrapped and replaced by the new version.

Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla’s VP of Engineering had this to say:

People ask us all the time about what Mozilla’s going to do about the mobile web, and I’m very excited to announce that we plan to rock it. Here’s some information about what we’re planning to do with hiring, technology, partnerships, and products, and how you can get involved. Short summary: we are serious about bringing the Firefox experience and technology to mobile devices.

I’ve been using minimo a bit and the browser is pretty good but I find it an absolute resource hog on my phone.

Nice find! I just got hold of an MDA Vario III last week (HTC Kaiser/Tytn II). Although IE is a big improvement over PPC 2002 I was previously running I still want more features.

i hope it will be available soon for symbian phones. Firofox is the best browser ever and standard webbrowsers on mobile phones are quite slow in use.
