iWOW 2 plug-in released for iTunes on the Mac
October 1st, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, PC Gadgets, Software
SRS Labs has just announced that they will be rolling out iWOW 2 - the most up-to-date version of the popular and award-winning iTunes plug-in for owners of Macintosh computers. iWOW 2 is definitely a step up from its predecessors, utilizing a few patented audio enhancement technologies that provides full and rich 3D audio over both desktop and laptop computers in addition to external speakers and headphones. This results in not only a richer and more powerful audio experience whenever you listen to music, videos or podcasts, but it also provides new preset options that enable listeners the ability to listen and enjoy both movies and videos on iTunes in surround sound instead of headphones.
iWOW 2 enables users to create and save presets for specific songs, video, and podcasts, so control freaks will definitely have a field day tweaking the settings for each individual song on their Mac. While not everyone will have the time or level of dedication to do just that, there is always the handy “Auto-preset” option that will choose the best iWOW preset based on information garnered from the music and video. Sounds pretty neat - I think this preset thing is but a novelty for my personality, as most of the time I won’t be too bothered about exacting the best possible audio combination as there’ll always be other distractions to distort my music such as traffic from the outside or kids running around the house, breaking a vase or two.
As for the iWOW 2’s Movie Mode, users will be able to enjoy a home theater-like experience from their videos on the go or at home thanks to virtual surround sound over headphones. Just make sure your Mac is running OS X 10.2 or higher and iTunes 6 or better. The plug-in is ready for download at http://www.srslabs.com/iwow as well as other leading download sites. It retails for $19.99 after a brief trial period, while users who are upgrading from iWOW 1 can upgrade for just $11.99.
