Toshiba has taken over Hitachi’s coveted position for having the largest capacity 1.8″ hard drive in the world. Known as the MK1626GCB, you get a maximum of 160GB of storage space that will probably end up in next generation notebooks, personal media players, and HD digital video cameras. The Toshiba MK1626GCB comes with an improved read-write head and enhanced magnetic layer which boosts recording density, achieves an areal density of 353 mega-bit per square millimeters in the process. CE-ATA interface is used as well, making this 33% more energy efficient than Toshiba’s current king, the 1.8″ MK1011GAH.
