BlueAnt Z9 Bluetooth headset

blueant-z9.jpgBackground noise is more often than not the main enemy of cellphone conversations, especially when you’re doing the social thing and a bar or club. The loud music or chatter in the background is guaranteed to drown your voice out, which is why one should always leave the premises and go outside to carry out a conversation. BlueAnt has a solution that does not take you away from your precious pint, thanks to the Z9 Bluetooth headset that boasts smart noise cancellation in addition to voice boosting software. Apparently, this minuscule 10 gram device is said to offer natural, clear phone conversations even in the noisiest of environments.

The Voice Isolation Technology used inside the Z9 makes use of intelligent audio algorithms to separate the voice signal from virtually all background noise, giving an enhanced and isolated frequency that will positively affect the incoming and outgoing voices of the headset, resulting in wind noise reduction and echo cancellation. There are a couple of modes of Voice Isolation to choose from - Standard is used in normal, everyday environments where background noise isn’t too boisterous, while the Max mode is for use in extremely noisy environments, providing superior intelligible voice clarity while you’re chatting away.

The entire BlueAnt Z9 Bluetooth headset weighs a mere 10 grams and measures less than 4cm, making it extremely portable and light, you might even not feel as if it is there on your ear. It uses a clear ear hook to minimize its presence when worn, and can be clipped neatly onto an article of clothing when not in use. The battery provides up to 5 hours of talk time and approximately 200 hours of standby time, which probably results in 4 or 5 days of practical usage before recharging. Since it too BlueAnt more than 2 years to develop the Z9, the sound quality would probably be superb to say the least. In fact, the headset has already picked up the prestigious 2007 International Innovations Design & Engineering Award by the American Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) for ‘outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products’ earlier this year. You can purchase one for approximately £59.00 after taxes.

Have you actually tried this out? Manufacturer “claims” are one thing, actual performance is another. I have a convertible, and my Jabra JX10 (which I really like) cannot filter out the wind noise very well. If this could handle that, then I’d be all over it.
