MiniMate keeps food fresh
July 21st, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets
Keeping food fresh is a big challenge for mothers as they often have an insane schedule to juggle on a daily basis. The MiniMate utilizes activated oxygen and an intelligent microprocessor that helps remove most germs known to infect your refrigerated foods. All you need to do is place it on the top shelf and you’re good to go, leaving only pure oxygen as the result. There are also no sticky residue or offensive odor to contend with, and according to reader Ashley who sent in this hat tip (Thanks, Ashley!), the MiniMate is one device that will pay itself over many, many times in it’s lifetime. Sounds like a good deal to me - does anyone else have had a good experience with the $60 MiniMate?

July 21st, 2007 at 8:49 pmI have scene similar devices designed for commercial walk-in coolers but, never in operation perhaps to the units high price tag. The technology is sound, although germs/bacteria is not the biggest contributer to produce loss, methane gas is. Methane is naturally produced from decaying organic mater such as the famed loved/dreaded strawberry. $60 is a small price to pay for fresher produce.

No seems to be confused by the phrase leaving only pure oxygen. What that means is that once activated oxygen oxidizes an organism it gives up one of the oxygen molecules and what is left is O2. Not the entire atmoshere in the refrigerator is turned into pure oxygen!

January 18th, 2008 at 1:04 pmMy mom gave me a Mini-Mate for Christmas, and at first, I was skeptical. But I decided to give it a try, and oh my goodness! It works like a charm! It really helps keep my fridge fresh, and odor-free, and I am noticing a difference in how much longer my fruits and vegetables are staying fresh! I love this!

January 18th, 2008 at 1:06 pmI’m a college student and my mom bought me this for christmas and this product is amazing. I live in an apartment with 3 other girls and we usually have a bunch of left overs from pizza to veges(some of the girls are on a diet) so our refregerator’s smells but once I put the Minimate in our frige all the bad odor smells disappeared and our fruits and veges are fresh for weeks. This product really works and its amazing its way better than Baking soda!
