Know where you are down to the centimeter, thanks to Trimble.

Trimble VRS systemYou can find out where you are down to a centimeter thanks to the real-time kinematic position corrections with Trimble’s new VRS system.

Their new VRS customer system allows companies (mostly farmers, contractors, and civil engineering teams). The system incorporates radio, rea-time kinematic positioning corrections, DGPS, and standard GPS to identify tiny increments of positioning. This way precise measurements can be made without specific base station setup (which are often prohibitively expensive, and can be tricky to set up).

What it looks like, is that for surveying in growth communities, it’ll be a real boon. Not just that, but there are a bundle of uses for this system, and likely hundreds more to be created. From disaster aversion to land mapping, and even archeology, this stuff is going to change digital location marking for good (at a reasonable cost).

There’s also a network up in Great Britain, check it out. The U.S. domestic rollout is what’s new.

Thanks Trimble

Hi Fred,

“Their new VRS customer system allows companies (mostly farmers, contractors, and civil engineering teams).” Allows companies to…? Train of thought has left the station methinks :P
