The QiGO content key
by David in Gaming Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Announced at the opening of the All things digital conference is the QiGO essentially it is an Internet content key, which utilizes the flash drive technology to automatically launch media applications, such as games, music, videos and even company promotions, such as marketing material and adverts.
By inserting the key into the USB port the web content will be opened up, no need for usernames and passwords as each key is exclusive so you can see the advantage that the keys offer, when you are finished the key is removed from the port and the site closes.
So far there are only a limited examples of what the keys can offer a Konami game “Yu-Gi-Oh” and from Hasbro Net Jet Online Game System, however the full launch is not due until later on in the year when there will be information on prices and content.
The potential for this is that because they are Internet connected, the content will change, for example there may be new games or maybe if it is music related then samples of new releases can be shown. No doubt that the future for this will be a subscription based arrangement, which would mean that the owner of each key can choose how much or how little content they wish to use.
The long tern concern would be if this was successful then users would have to have a collection of keys in order to access the different types of content.

May 30th, 2007 at 6:40 amOk, I can’t take it any more. I’v held it in this long.
PLEASE, for the love of all that is good and right in the world, check your spelling and grammar before posting.
I’m willing to forgive the odd spelling mistake that doesn’t get noticed, the use of a comma where you should have a period, and even words used in the wrong tense. Including all of these mistakes in the same post is just painful for us as readers.
I honestly don’t know much more about this item than it is some type of key you insert into the USB port to get access to some sort of “encrypted” website(s) that may include games or promotions.
How much do they cost? How long do they work? Who is providing the games and promotions, and what exactly are the promotions?
I really enjoy checking out the cool gadgets, and I frequent the site several times throughout the day, but if someone doesn’t start proofreading the posts before they are published, you are going to drive me away.
