SolarSafe - The UV Monitor Wristband

May 27th, 2007 by Al in Solar Powered Gear

SolarSafe
This is a great way to ensure your kids are wearing enough sun cream, the SolarSafe, simple but very effective.

To use, you expose the wristband to direct sunlight and it will turn purple, you then attach it to the wrist and when applying sunscreen also apply it to the wristband. The wristband will now change color as the effectiveness of the sunscreen deteriorates. When it turns brown it is time to re-apply whilst the color cream means it’s time to top up on holiday beverages in a local taverna :) .

You can get a pack of 7 SolarSafes For $4.99 (~$10).

Great idea. Sort of a… awkward name though.

Considering I’m from Australia and we have one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world I think this would be really good. Only problem I see is if its awkward to wear or people find it unattractive to wear.
