Amycoll PS3 comes in shocking pink
May 22nd, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets, Mobile Phones
To be fair to the manufacturers of the Amycoll PS3 device, the gaudy pink color which it comes in isn’t the only thing that is shocking about it - what is more jaw dropping would be the “inspiration” garnered by taking iconic devices of today as well as their naming conventions and cobbling a multi-functional device which they pass off as their own. What can you tell by the Amycoll PS3 name alone? Are you expecting next gen graphics on a portable platform? Sorry to disappoint you, but the Amycoll PS3 is primarily a cellphone that comes with a fair bit of old school gaming capability.
First of all, let us do a breakdown of its name. While Amycoll might ring a bell with some of you, I think you are actually referring to the Anycall line of cellphones from Samsung. Apparently the scourge of Engrish is in full force with this device, judging by its name alone. This cellphone comes with a couple of digital cameras built inside - a 2 megapixel camera is placed behind the device, while the front holds a 1.3 megapixel camera. Yes, you read that right - a 1.3 megapixel camera up front. While some of you might have soiled your pants at the prospect of 3G connectivity, you’ll be disappointed to know that the 1.3 megapixel camera is meant for webcam use only.
Additional features include a QVGA display, a USB connector, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion options. The screen is decent enough to watch your favorite videos, while I’d recommend using a pair of headphones if you plan on using this as your primary MP3 player since the speakers certainly don’t do your music justice. You also get a couple of old school emulators in the form of SNES and Game Boy Color games. No idea on how much it costs, but it shouldn’t be worth more than a real PSP. I doubt the FCC is going to approve this for use in the US.
