Paxar has recently unveiled its consumer-facing-ite-level RFID solution known as the Magicmirror. This unique device targets retailers that want to move brands and specific items, thanks to the ability for the Magicmirror to provide the final push where the salesperson has failed. How does it do it, you ask? Well, the Magicmirror will be able to detect an RFID-tagged piece of clothing when it is placed in front, where it will then display rich personalized information such as brand messaging, a brief description of the garment, the availability of sizes and colors, as well as mix-and-match guides that suggest other ways to part with your hard earned cash accessorize your wardrobe. Should a customer need any assistance from a salesperson, the Magicmirror can be used to summon help in an instant.

The Magicmirror is made possible by combining technology from Motorola and Infosys, bringing a turnkey consumer-facing RFID solution for both apparel and retail markets. Motorola will be supplying the RFID readers and handheld devices, while Infosys will offer Smart Visual Merchandising applications from its side.

The introduction of Magicmirror in stores will then have a unique opportunity to connect personally with their customers, edging them to pick up products that cater to their lifestyle and tastes. Since consumers are getting more and more comfortable with the presence of technology in their lives, the Magicmirror ought not to be something cold and new but embraced instead.
