$25 TG Winner – Guess the number of screen resolutions

by

resolution-winner.jpg

Our latest contest was to guess how many different screen resolutions have been used to view this site over the past 7 days and I am delighted to say it proved a bit more difficult than our previous guess the image competition.

top.jpg

We had entries ranging from 2 (hmmm) right up to 122 and to be honest I don’t think anybody deserved to win :)

However as the rules were the closest guess would win I’ve got to honor that (pah!). One of the reasons for me picking this stat for the contest is the fact I was bloody surprised when I saw how many different resolutions have been used to view the site. In the last 7 days we’ve been viewed by 178 different screen resolutions.

So the winner is Vic with his paltry guess of 122. Vic does have a bit of insider knowledege as he also runs the very cool site Uber Review, which means Vic being the star that he is, volunteered to not collect his winnings so the winner is the next highest guess. So Brandon with your pathetic guess of 64 is the next closest (and only 114 short).

Congratulations Brandon, let me know the email address to send the voucher out to and I’ll get straight on to it, though I reckon you should be pretty embarrassed winning after being soooo faaaaarrrr out.

Who the hell ever heard of 1024×748? Surely that has to be a mistake. Did someone pull out an electric sanding tool and slice a few millimeters off their monitor or something?

I remember using 1024×768 — using it now would be painful, borderline unusable. :P

I like my 1440×900 taking up 5th, although a little part of me wishes I had 17 inches of screen.

178 –> I dont think even bill gates would have guessed that

I must admit I was as surprised as you guys when I saw the total was 178

Woah, that many?
Well, my guess of 8 was far off (if they are all windows users, then they must know how to use the registry, I am pretty sure my resolution wasn;t a default on my machine, I had to hack it in).

I do like running the odd contest so if I see a suitable contest idea I’ll do another. I will try to do one weekly on a very adhoc basis.

Any change of the full list of resolutions ?
Would be interested in any of the more exotic resolutions, such
as:
320×512
1280×256
3840×2160
960×720
1400×1120
