Brain training in a small package

mini-brain-trainer.jpgBrain training looks set to be all the rage these days, judging by the amount of software (read: games) that challenge your pre-frontal cortex, especially on the Nintendo DS. What happens if you’re rather broke at the moment and is unable to fork out enough dough to pick up one of those handheld consoles? You do, after all, need to keep your brain razor sharp in thinking so you will be able to conjure up the next multi-million dollar business plan in order to snag yourself one of those snazzy portable consoles from Nintendo. The Mini Brain Trainer does exactly this, ensuring your brain stays on its toes no matter what your current age is.

The Mini Brain Trainer is a palm-sized module that actually improves your mental agility, attention, and memory power that will help your reactions be more swift and accurate. Since it measures a tiny 8cm x 4cm x 1cm, you can virtually slip this into any pocket or handbag without any problem. All you need to do is spend a few minutes each day with the Mini Brain Trainer and you will start seeing positive results in due time.

The four games consist of Flash, Sequence, Catch, and Blocks. Flash requires you to memorize a quartet of numbers that appear on the screen quickly, while sequence tests your ability to memorize the numbers that flash past the screen quickly. Catch is pretty simple - you need to catch the block as it moves from left, right, top, or bottom. Blocks challenges you to memorize the block shape that appears but for a moment. Just don’t start playing this at work though as your boss won’t take you too seriously during the next round of appraisals despite your improved memory. The Mini Brain Trainer is currently available for £9.99.

People should really read labels before purchasing this type of software/hardware. This is not a scientifically validated product, therefor it probably doesn’t work. Only product I know of in this category that is scientifically valid is Posit Science’s Brain Fitness Program.

Everyone should take a peek.
