Creative Labs is well known for its range of sound cards for a long time now, so it is not surprising to see the Singapore-based company release yet another model that caters to those who want great sound on their machines, regardless if you are using a desktop or notebook. The latest addition to the already extensive X-Fi product family is known as the Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio notebook card, a model that improves upon the previous generation Audigy family. The Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio Notebook card will be the flagship model for notebook users, so if you’re a professional musician who is always on the go, picking this offering up will definitely help.

Those who remember the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS notebook card will definitely give the approval for this new iteration that does away with the aging PCMCIA interface in favor of the newer ExpressCard itnerface. Features include THX certified 24-bit Advanced HD audio and 7.1 surround sound in addition to optical in/out jacks and a port for you to hook up your speakers to the breakout box. Other than that, official specifications are still pretty scant and the same goes for pricing and availability details. We will have to wait for the coming weeks to see if Creative Labs actually release any more details. In the meantime, let’s just keep our fingers crossed that it will be sooner rather than later.

How would you like to make use of your ExpressCard slot on the notebook? Would you rather use it to cater for a high-end soundcard, or do you prefer to throw in an EV-DO card into the fray?

Soundblaster sucks soooo hard… the last one worth buying was the original 5.1 digital… since then none of their product’s been worth buying…

ANDI WHAT R U TALKING ABOUT. Soundblasters are the best in the business. The X-Fi cards are the best in the world. Also who buys a 5.1 card anymore.

i’m really really serious Thomas… they’re the best from all the ‘consumer junk’ AC97 and hercules and stuff… they actually manage to make it up to ‘acceptable’ for a music lover. If you want a GOOD soundcard start with the ‘consumer’-series from M-Audio. the Revolution series is cheap and good…
