The Grāpple® - Grape Flavoured Apples

February 28th, 2007 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Grapple

They say “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” so I wonder what this keeps away, the Grapple, an apple that tastes like grapes.

The Grapple is made by adding flavourings to a regular Washington Extra Fancy Fuji Apple, the process uses some “complex” infusion technique and adds no additional sugars or calories.

Grape flavoured apples should be in the shops soon (hopefully easier to find than Guinness Marmite) so next time your kids say they don’t like apples you’ve got an answer.

I don’t know where your blog lives geographically, but Grapples have been available in USA (east coast) for a few years. I am *very* afraid to try them! The label doesn’t specify artificial or natural flovering. Just the thought of fresh fruit with added artifical chemicals is…. really gross. I’ll stick with my old trick of putting an apple and a grape in my friend’s particle accelerator, and mushing them together at 1 billion MPH. Tastes better that way. Mmmm… quarky!

Thanks for the feedback Jon. The blog resides in the States but I write from the UK so this was the first time I’d ever heard of Grapples, I’m not sure if I want them to venture over here or not.

While you may initially gag at the price tag(nearly $5/pkg of 4 apples); this becomes a non-issue after you taste one! These things are TASTY… the apples are super consistent in freshness, texture, size, and of course; the trippy flavor!! Sorta like a hallucinogenic experience intended just for your taste buds.

Although still rather hard to find, these have been in the stores here in Southern Cali for a few months.

$5 for 4 apples, geez, I’ll stick to grapes.

I’ve never heard of these and I’m on the East Coast (Maryland, to be exact). Can’t say I’d run out to try them either. :P
