the dealer will never be the cheapest, nor best place to have a auto-start added. Most big box stereo stores have installation available. Some independant car audio places will offer it too- just be careful- some of them might not still be in business the next time you need them… then again- the same goes for the big box stores too.

Since some wiring is involved with the ignition, I would probably have to ask my dealership to install for me. How much do they usually charge, ballpark?

If you install one of these and your car dies is there a possibility you can put it in a different car, or is it one of those things that once you program it for one car it cannot be switched over?

Hate to break it to ya, but there is some wiring involved. Not too bad, but you will need to make some connections to the ignition wires.
