Seagate introduces DAVE

January 30th, 2007 by Marc in Miscellaneous Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

I was thinking to myself the other day how cool it would be to have a bluetooth hard drive. Then I see this story. It would be nice if everything you wished for would just materialise out of the ether like that :-)

Anyway, this looks cool - they’re pitching it as an A/V device but really it’s a portable (battery run) hard drive with USB, Bluetooth and Wifi access plus it’s got some functions for sharing data wirelessly with peer devices. They’re also talking about using it with mobile devices - 20GB makes the SD card in your phone look pretty pathetic and one day when phones become competent at being cameras and video players it might even make sense to use it that way!

Now, what I’m waiting for is a bluetooth module for my DSLR so that photos I take can wind up on the drive automatically without me messing around with card readers. Canon, are you listening?
