I just came across this video of an industrial robotic arm being used to perform a roller coaster like ride, looks very cool!

That looks extremely painful and extremely awesome (more awesome than painful).

In Legoland, Denmark, you can actually have such a ride yourself. Video here

Before I programmed websites I programmed industrial robots. Fanuc would have a cow if they saw that video, we went to incredible lengths to protect workers from robots, even workers that did stupid things. It’s amazing that that piece of equipment probably was moving that guy around with a precision of several thousands of an inch or a few millimeters.

Legoland, USA (Carlsbad, CA) has such a ride, too.

He’s lucky he’s not about 2 inches taller or he’s be looking for a better comb-over.
Looks like fun though. I heard the real robotic arm rides have options so you can pick settings like “mellow”, “intense” or “make-ya-vomit”…I like rides so this would be interesting.

Thanks guys I never realised these things existed for people without missing brain cells. I like the idea of the “make-ya-vomit” setting, thanks Kris.
