The Toaster and Egg Cooker Combo
January 20th, 2007 by Mike in Kitchen Gadgets
Most of the time, when companies come out with products that try to combine two seemingly easy combinable products, it ends up sucking. A lot. Just pick up any MP3 player/cell phone in the US and you’ll see what I mean in just a few seconds. But sometimes they may get it right, especially when it’s two drop dead simple products. One of those products may be the Egg and Toaster combination from Back to Basics. And even if it doesn’t work as well as you might hope, that English muffin and egg look mighty tasty.
There’s nothing really special about this toaster, other than the egg cooker molded to it. With this thing, you can make the most supreme breakfast sandwich ever, who knows, it may actually make you want to get up early every morning, don’t count on it though. Besides eggs, you can also put meats in the cooker, that way you can have sausage and bacon on your sandwich as well. Mmmm. And just like any other toaster, it’ll toast bagels, English muffins, toast, croissants, and any other type of bread you can fit into it. All in all, it’ll be about 4 minutes from the start until you’re finally enjoying that delicious sandwich you slaved over (for a whole 4 minutes!). Once done, cleaning the egg tray is easy, just give it a quick rinse, and, well, nobody ever cleans toasters, so that’s as much cleaning as you’ll ever need to do.
Next time you’re in the market for a toaster, get yourself the one that can toast and cook eggs, sausage, and bacon. A more bacon filled life can be yours for only $50.

April 13th, 2007 at 4:56 pmMy wife and I got one of these for a wedding present (wasn’t on our registry). Already having a wonderful HamiltonBeach 4 slicer, we gave it to my parents, who still have 3 kids in the house, and were in need of a new toaster. They love it. They use either canadian style bacon or the Kirkland brand precooked stuff from Costco (the refrigerated kind, not the dry, keeps forever kind).

May 8th, 2007 at 1:43 amThis is one of the best appliances I’ve ever purchased. It makes an Egg McMuffin that rivals McDonald’s! I love the way it delays the toasting of the muffin (or bread) until right before the egg is done so both are ready at the same time!

January 2nd, 2008 at 9:10 pmI love my toaster/egg cooker combo. I make egg sandwiches all the time with it. The only problem I’ve run across is that the egg is cooked small and round and most bread is rectangular and significantly larger than the egg. You end up with lots of extra bread. I’ve found that if I use 1 piece of bread and cut it in half or buy mini bagels that solves my problem!
