Sony ICF-SW100S - World Band Receiver

Sony ICF-SW100S
I don’t know if most people still listen to radio often, I’m not talking about the kind of radio one listens by using the car audio system, what I’m referring to is a normal radio device to be used and listened at home.

Well, let me tell you that I listen to plenty of radio because most of the times I get bored with the same old music I got and want to listen to a human voice interacting with the listeners (me), I prefer the late night shows at 3 and 4 of the morning in which one can send emails (or make phone calls) and believe it or not, after some time you really get to know the radio people working at these extraordinary hours.

But anyway, what I really want to speak about is a Sony radio that features uncommon bands like LW, MW and SW, it is the Sony ICF-SW100S that is considered a World Band Radio - of course it also features the normal FM band.

Since it is a World Radio is comes with a useful detail which is a World Time Clock that is able to display the time in different locations besides the local one. The tuning system is digital instead of the old-school analog, which is also a good thing. Because you will be able to listen to radio stations you never heard before, the 50 memory presets feature is also valuable, so you can keep your favorite worldwide radios at a touch of a button (or two).

The only problem is the price - the Sony ICF-SW100S costs $500.

Actually, I have one in excellent condition I can sell for half that with all the accessories except the manual if I’m not mistaken. The only thing is that the battery cover is broken and I have it taped down which I’m sure can be fixed or replaced at a minor cost by sony.
