iRecord

The iRecord Personal Media Recorder is a very cool device. It’s designed to get media onto your portable device. Any portable device in fact and that’s the trick it’s got up its sleeve. Things don’t get much simpler than this - to use it, you just plug your TV/DVD player/whatever into one end of the box and plug your portable media device into the other end.

To start recording, press the red button and walk away. That’s it. The box will actually figure out what you’ve plugged it into and react accordingly. I saw it talking to an iPod and a PSP with no trouble at all and it will also send the recorded video to a PC, external hard drive or USB memory stick in H.264 format which should give you about 3 hours per gigabyte.

Mobile phones are also on the cards for the future although they’re not supported in the current model. It will be on the shelves in the Q2 this year and cost $199.

I used this produce and it’s amazing. It produces amazing quality videos with crazy compression. I was able to compress a 3 hour movie to 500 meg at 820×640 res!!
