Swiss Hot Steam Humidifier
The Swiss Hot Steam Humidifier aims to improve your ambient air moisture while looking good doing it.
This compact humidifier boils water to eliminate waterborne bacteria and viruses before emitting hot steam that improves ambient air moisture. The unit stores unobtrusively on a nightstand or bookshelf and produces steam in as little as three minutes. You can adjust the output from one to two gallons per day and adjust the power consumption from 150- to 300-watts at the touch of a button. An LED illuminates when the humidifier requires additional water and the reservoir removes for ease of filling under a faucet.
You can pick up this comforting gadget (choose from silver or red colors) for $99.95 from Hammacher.

Fujitsu bids plasma business adieu
Fujitsu, a plasma display pioneer, has decided that they have had enough of the plasma TV business and has taken the decision to quit it, no doubt with competitive pressures from lower cost LCD panels being one of the main reasons. Isn’t it ironic that Fujitsu was the first company to introduce plasma TVs to the world? It would be somewhat like having Ford stop manufacturing automobiles altogether. According to Fujitsu of Japan, they will stop producing plasma TVs due to the cold hard fact that they cannot make enough money at it, let alone profit. It does make me wonder though – how about the other companies that still roll out plasma TVs? How are they doing it in order to stay afloat?

Image Moments digital photo frame line expanded
Digital Foci, Inc. is set on releasing a trio of customizable Image Moments digital photo frame next month at CES 2008 in Las Vegas, with the main attraction being a 5.7″ model that has been tipped to boast the highest pixel density display currently available on the market. This display is known as the Image Moments 6 screen and boasts VGA (640 x 480) resolution, LED backlighting with pixel density of 140 PPI, complete with a two tone, mirror polished chrome finish. 5.7″ is a pretty strange designation where screen size is concerned, and it certainly doesn’t live up to the 7″ digital photo frames where size is concerned these days. Well, at least the high pixel density makes up for the smaller size, but I think people have gotten used to 7″ being the sweet spot by now.

Garmin takes High Definition route with new devices
Garmin International does not want to be left behind in the High Definition race by making marked improvements to a couple of its popular marine radomes – the GMR 18 HD and the GMR 24 HD. Both devices will not only offer better target separation but clearer definition as well, especially in close ranges. According to Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales, “These new radar scanners process up to eight times the information of their predecessors, which helps take the guesswork out of identifying the precise location of targets. And unlike many competing products, these new units are completely backwards compatible with the current Garmin marine lineup.”

Nokia 4G wireless test is ultra fast
Nokia has just informed everyone of the success its 4G real-world test achieved, also known as “long-term evolution” (LTE) wireless technology. This test was run in an urban environment on the 2.6GHz spectrum, and managed to hit a maximum download speed of 173Mbps – doing better than what previous results from more controlled trials brought about. That’s a whole lot of throughput by any measure, with the 3G Partnership Project (3GPP) of which Nokia is a part of has already started to tout the results as the green light that LTE is capable of providing the combination of bandwidth, range, scalability, and low-power that users look forward to from a 4G service.
