Qkfone G998 parodies Mercedes

by Edwin

mercedes-phone.jpgThe Qkfone G998 is no luxury phone, so don’t go making the mistake of purchasing a ‘Mercedes’ for your other half this holiday season. Strange to see Daimler’s famous three-pronged circle emblem located right smack in the middle of its five-way navigator – cheap publicity, perhaps? The Qkfone G998 is no doubt a China-made device and comes in a candybar form factor, dedicated music and gaming controls, dual-band GSM support, a 2 megapixel camera, dual color displays, 1GB of internal memory and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. It is powered by the Pocket PC platform.

AOL stops work on Netscape

by Edwin

netscape-gg.jpgSorry Netscape fans – AOL has just announced last Friday that they have stopped development of the Netscape browser, claiming that the old brand has little chance (or none if you want to be more straight to the point) of ever regaining its market share from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. According to AOL, development on Netscape is at a very pitiful stage at this point in time, devolved recently into a “handful of engineers tasked with creating a skinned version of Firefox with a few extensions.” That’s pretty sad considering how even Firefox has surpassed Netscape in terms of browser share ever since the open source browser was released.

Asus Expands Eee PC Line With Accessories

by Carolyn

I got an Asus Eee PC (4G 701 model) for Christmas this year and I absolutely love it. It’s lightweight, portable and works flawlessly for me as a mobile device. I could gush on and on about the Eee, but I’ll keep that brief. However, being a gadget-loving junkie that I am, I love coordinating accessories for my gadgets.

Imagine my delight when Asus announced Continue reading » color-coded accessories to go with the Eee PC! The accessories are as follows: Asus Expands Eee PC Line With Accessories

More restrictions in airline travel

by Edwin

lithium-restriction.jpgLooks like air travel has just gotten a little bit more complicated, with the US Department of Transportation issuing a statement concerning loose lithium batteries. This edict of sorts claims that lithium batteries will have to be inserted into a phone, notebook or other electronic device or dropped into a plastic bag and bundled along with carry-on baggage with a maximum number of two batteries per passenger from January 1st onwards. I guess the US Department of Transportation does not want to start off the New Year with a bang, eh?

Hide your gaming gear in the Jump Seat

by Chris

Jump Seat

I’m fortunate enough that I don’t have to worry about a wife that doesn’t like my video games to be sitting with my cable box under the TV. I couldn’t imagine having to go get my Xbox 360 and hook it up every time I wanted to play a game, only to unhook it and put it away some time later. I’d probably spend more time setting it up/removing it than I would actually playing it. However, for those guys (or girls) who have a significant other that isn’t down with your gaming habits, here’s a cool piece of furniture that will gladly hide your gaming goodies.

USB Credit Card for the masses

by Edwin

usb-credit-card.jpg

Shinhan Card from South Korea has unveiled a new credit card unceremoniously known as the USB Credit Card. This is actually a contactless credit card and can be used for online purchases – all you need to do is insert the card into a USB drive and it will automatically enter your credit card information on your behalf. I’m not too sure how secure this thing is though, but it certainly sounds like a more convenient way of going about with your online purchases.

Lullabub provides parents with much needed help

by Edwin

lullabub.jpgNew parents often find that their once peaceful sleeping patterns have been thrown out of whack, so here’s the Lullabub to help them out. This automated solution is actually a remote controlled rocking system for a baby’s cot (or “crib”, depending on which part of the world you are from) that will help rock your baby to sleep gently without having you to expend whatever little energy you think you have left. Invented by Christopher Mitchell from Australia, this device consists of four pieces that are placed under each leg of most cots, rocking them automatically. You can choose from four movement choices – mother’s womb, mother’s heartbeat (didn’t know any rocking was involved there), a boat on the water, or Led Zeppelin. Nah, I’m kidding – the last would be simulating a ride in the car. The Lullabub has a 30-minute timer which ought to be more than enough to get your little one snoozing not a moment too soon. The Lullabub retails for $199 and fits most new/used cots.
