Wine Bottle Wine Thermometer

by Edwin

wine-thermometer1.jpgStoring your wine in just the right temperature is essential if you want to experience the full flavor of each glass, hence the need for a Wine Bottle Wine Thermometer. It comes in the form of a wine bottle (now how about that?) to help maintain the mood when you’re about to open a bottle of bubbly.

It comes with 16 preset optimum wine temperatures for the most popular wines. The thermometer features a back lit display, an auto power off facility and incorporates a stainless steel probe. You can change between °C/°F and it also features an alarm that will sound when the temperature is reading within 2°C of the optimum temperature. Simply press the select button to select the wine type, insert the probe into the wine bottle with the probe immersed at least 25mm into the wine and read the temperature.

You can pick up the Wine Bottle Wine Thermometer for £14.99.

The USB Doorbell

by Al

USB Doorbell

You’ve been able to download your own ringtones to your phone for absolutely ages so I’m some what surprised it’s taken so long for the trusty doorbell to follow suit. Re Bell have created the USB doorbell that lets you download your own tunes and sounds.

So instead of hearing the mundane “Ding Dong” when somebody’s at the door, you can choose what you want to hear, now if they could just combine this with a biometric fingerprint reader so different visitors would have different sounds it would be really cool. If you fancy a giggle check out the video.

The USB doorbell is available from Think Geek for $99.99.

Broadcom brings 3G on a chip

by Edwin

broadcom-3gchip.jpgBroadcom has just announced that it has successfully developed a brand new processor that is capable of integrating all key 3G cellular and mobile technologies not on a single device, but onto a single chip instead. It is said that this new chip will operate at ridiculously low power, hence enabling cellphone manufacturers to construct new 3G handsets that will be more compact than those available in the market today, endowed with extremely long battery lives. Not only that, this new 3G chip will be extremely cheap , costing a fraction of today’s price, which means 3G handsets no longer need to be in the domain of the well-heeled as even entry level handsets by then would be able to incorporate this chip at very little cost to the end user.

ATI shares new TV tuners with the world

by Edwin

ati-tv-wonders.jpgATI has released a bunch of new TV tuners for those who have been thinking about including a computer in their living room as part of the entire home entertainment package, instead of the usual LCD TV, HD DVD/Blu-ray player, and high end audio center taking all the attention. The products in question are the ATI TV Wonder 650 Combo USB, TV wonder 600 PCI Express and the TV Wonder 600 PCI. All of these tuners will be able to bring HDTV goodness to the computer, so make sure your rig runs silently enough not to interfere with dialog in a movie due to the noisy hum of its cooling solution.

Jammie Thomas
* Kazaa user Jammie Thomas asks for new trial – from $222,000 to $150

All the way from Minnesota comes a story about a woman named Jammie who was using Kazaa to share music online, one of the RIAA people was able to download music from her computer (this is illegal, kids) and she had to go on trial. Once there, she was given a penalty valued at $222,000. Too much? Too little? You decide.

Fast forward to today – She decided to ask for a new trial and in case that happens, there are suggestions to drop the high valued penalty and make it go from zero to $150. *hmmmm*

Best of luck, Jammie!

With computers once again topping the “I Want it List for Christmas,” the question foremost in most people’s minds sooner or later is, what do I do with all those old gadgets to make room for the new toys I’m getting? Is Microsoft finally patenting the Zune Phone?

by James

Zune phone interface

Make reports on an article about patent filing from Redmond which may indicate the Microsoft is busy preparing the long rumored Zune Phone. The photographs of screen mockups that come with the patent application seems to suggest that their “Extensible Filtered Lists for Mobile Device User Interface,” will include a touch interface picture viewer, phone calls and message screen, games, MP3 player (of course), calendar, and all the usual suspects. It doesn’t look as pretty as the Cupertino’s iPhone, of course, but it’s a Windows interface, so it’s going to be list-if-ied and organized in group fashion.
