iPhone line waiters looking for jobs

by Edwin

iwait.jpgIs it me, or is the line waiting phenomenon just unbelievable? With all the hype surrounding the iPhone, a Craigslist advertisement (there are plenty more of these) says this:

“We have line waiters in every major city, for iPhone, Xbox, iPod, Zune, SPS, Video Games, and other hot consumer electronic products and concerts and events. Don’t miss out. We have hundreds of line waiters, so those who need iPhones in bulk don’t have to wait for months. Call us now! Release is on Friday.”

Now this is what I call a professional camper. If you actually employ of of them, you must be really hard up for an iPhone, aren’t you? I’m sure using your current cellphone for a week more before making the switch won’t spell the end of the world.

Solar Powered Pool Purifier makes swimming nearly chemical free

by James

Solar Powered Pool Purifier

Here at CG, we’re always on the look out for gadgets that not only make your pool experience more high tech, but easier. First there was the remote control pool skimmer, then the wireless pool monitor. Both were designed to make it easier to keep the pool clean and balanced. But let’s face it, you still have to hassle with chlorine, pool shock and conditioners. And although these gadgets make it easier, they certainly don’t take the place of pool maintenance.

Well now there may be something from Smart Home that completely does away with the hassle of balancing your pool chemicals altogether. The Solar Powered Pool Purifier floats in your pool as it treats it with mineral ions that condition the pool and keep it green free by halting the growth of algae and other microorganisms by 80%. In fact, the Pool Purifier makes the pool water so safe, it meets the EPA established drinking water standards!

Crazy Cat Lady for your desk

by Edwin

crazy-cat-lady.jpgStereotypes abound in this world – Muslim militants think that America is the Great Satan, effeminate men are looked upon as gay, and single ladies who end up as old maids seem to have an unnatural attraction to cats, being some sort of patron saint for our feline friends. Is this what our viewpoints are that they cannot be changed? Well, there is now a desktop toy available that enforces the last stereotype since it comes in the form of a Crazy Cat Lady. Yes, the name isn’t too endearing either, so let’s read on more about her and her meowing friends after the jump.

Solar-Powered Floating Globe

by Edwin

solar-powered-globe.jpgSolar-Powered Floating Globe Shines in Every Color? I would say that the product title is pretty far fetched, considering how there are millions and millions of different colors available whether our eyes can detect it or not. Ah well, at least it adds to the appeal of the product. As its name suggests, this floating globe harnesses the power of the sun in order to light up, floating idly in your pond or pool when the sun sets while giving off a soothing glow that is sure to trick kids into thinking that fireflies swim and come in a variety of colors.

DH1 Disaster House is a puzzling, yet pricey, alternative to homelessness

by James

DH1 Disaster House

Developed by California architect Gregg Fleishman comes the DH1 Disaster House, a shed that can be put up in an afternoon. It’s a deceptively simple idea. Create a house that one doesn’t need a single nail to build. That’s because the home was designed with tabs that make it more a 3D puzzle to put together.

Initially designed to aid hurricane victims who have lost their homes, this alternative is designed to be a 14′ square shed built about 30″ off the ground. All one needs to do is unpack the stack of European birch plywood, put them together via the slots, and in about an hour, you have an instant place to hang your hat – porch included.

Damned Lamp Shade looks creepy

by Edwin

damned-lamp.jpg

Check out this creepy looking lamp shade that would definitely go down well in an environment filled with dark furniture, crimson red bedsheets, and a four-poster bed in a musty room. Of course, we musn’t forget candles that let off a musky scent to complete the dark and dreary picture. There will only be 40 of these lamp shades available, and they retail for a massive $46,200 each. Check out the product description after the jump. Almost makes me want to call a priest over and exorcise this post.

New Sony mice uninspiring

by Edwin

sony-mouse.jpg

Sony tries to crank up the style with a couple of new mice, but I think they have failed miserably. Take a look at the SMU-C3 for instance – no wireless connectivity, and it comes in a shape that certainly won’t win any ergonomic awards. The only saving grace would be its two-tone design that doesn’t do much to its overall appearance, and is available in pink, green, white, and black. The SMU-M10 on the other hand is more of a flat square than anything else, making it suitable for portable use. It comes with a groove along the sides for easy cable storage. There is no word on pricing, but it should be like other Sony products – expensive.

Mr. Wizard R.I.P.

by methodshop

Don Herbert, who explained the wonderful world of science to millions children on his Nickelodeon cable TV show “Mr. Wizard’s World“, has died after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was 89.

Herbert used basic experiments to teach scientific principles to his TV audience via an in-studio guest boy or girl who assisted in the experiments. Herbert liked to perform his scientific experiments as “tricks” to get the kids hooked, then explain the science behind it later.

Herbert wrote several books, including “Mr. Wizard’s Supermarket Science” and “Mr. Wizard’s Experiments for Young Scientists.”

In recent years, he helped set up his website mrwizardstudios.com.
