Freeloader – Charge all your Gadgets for Free

This is a cool little product for charging your gadgets, the Freeloader, a solar powered charging station.
What makes the Freeloader different to other solar powered charging devices is that you can charge the Freeloader up in the daytime and then at night connect it to your gadgets and let them recharge off the Freeloader’s battery and if you happen to need to charge the Freeloader at night you can always charge it via the USB port and then use it to charge your other devices – if that makes sense.

Jano Bike is termite fodder

Strange to see how wood is making an appearance in electronics. It seems as though people are growing sick and tired of those cold surfaces that do not convey any sense of character or warmth. Designer Roland Kaufmann have thought up of a concept known as the Jano bicycle. This two-wheeler will be made out of wood, and has a dual purpose, being able to be used for everyday commute between home and office as well as making for a sturdy off-road bike.

Days of Our Lives on iTunes
On Tuesday, the American soap opera, Days of Our Lives, debuted on iTunes (US). Full episodes of the soap will be offered at the standard $1.99, but consumers will be able to shave that cost down to 50¢ per episode by ordering a 20-episode multipass for $9.99.
iTunes Link: Days of Our Lives
The producers of the show have had several conversations about including bonus scenes from Days of Our Lives in the iTunes version, though nothing has been decided yet.
Days of Our Lives will now be the most widely distributed daytime soap in the U.S., with episodes available on broadcast (NBC), cable (SoapNet) and online (iTunes).

Yet another Nanobook appears

The Nanobook line of computers have just been expanded with the introduction of the iDot in Taiwan, joining the ranks of Everex in the U.S. and Packard Bell in the E.U. What you see above is the iDot CE261 that looks pretty futuristic, featuring a screen-mounted USB expansion bay that can be replaced by a pointing stick found on ThinkPads. I personally would have preferred to see the mounting area located elsewhere, as the screen size on its own is small enough already. You wouldn’t want to go blind while modifying a spreadsheet, do you? It is said the iDot will come with 3G connectivity as well, although pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.

Transformers turn plush

Looks like no matter how hard and tough-as-nails the Transformers robots look like, they all have a soft side to them in the form of a plush toy. What makes these plush toys all the more interesting is the latent ability to transform, for example the good ol’ Optimus Prime turns into one plush truck by moving the right parts into position.
I think this Transformers plush toy will appeal a whole lot to kids of either gender. After all, who can resist plonking down their head on a soft, plush pillow at the end of a tiring day? They also provide some form of comfort when watching scary movies or during tense moments when the Decepticons are hell-bent on laying waste to the Earth. Each Transformers plushie will retail for £9.99.

R2D2 Digital Watch
This is going to be the last Star Wars gadget I report on (well unless something really cool comes along), and that’s only because I remember seeing this one as a kid when I was younger, the exceedingly tacky R2D2 digital watch.
I’m guessing it’s the cylindrical shape of R2 that makes the Astromech droid the butt of all merchandising jokes, so without further ado here is the 1986 flip up R2D2 wrist watch.

To see the time you simply lift his head, though due to the age I’ve only seen it on eBay recently and the classic thing about this auction is it doesn’t even work.
Hat tip to Robert of Smidigt for the tip.
Fire Hydrant Drink Dispenser quenches thirst
If you’ve been on the Coolest Gadgets bandwagon long enough, you know that beer is the official drink here. Yes sir, we might be able to get through the day without a hot cup of joe, but never, ever mess with our beer. The Fire Hydrant Drink Dispenser could not have come in a timelier manner, being made of glass and silver while holding a fair amount of liquid within that can be dispensed by pressing the top button.
