Jacket harnesses sun’s power to charge gadgets
We know that solar power is often used by geeks, but how many of them have actually experienced the touch of a world class designer? Zegna has taken this task to create the Zegna Sport Solar Jacket by collaborating with Interactive Wear from Germany. This unique jacket features power cells that have been fitted into the neoprene collar, where electricity stored is transferred to your preferred device (MP3 player, cellphone) via conducting textile cables. It takes approximately 8 hours of sunlight to charge up the entire li-ion battery. Word has it that the Zegna Sport Solar Jacket will be part of its 2008 summer collection – you can be sure it will cause a big hole in your pocket to pick one up.

iLuv concept dock speaker

Speaker docks are dime a dozen these days, but how many actually come in a traffic stopping form factor? iLuv has certainly outdone itself with this wine glass docking speaker which was unveiled at SEK 2007, but unfortunately for the rest of this world who are ready to hand over their money to iLuv, it remains a concept at this stage. There is no word on whether it will be manufactured or not, but I certainly hope it would. Features include a LCD display that shows the current song, time, and equalizer bands. I don’t know about you, but the word ‘dock’ sure has more than one connotation with this utterly hot model standing beside it.

HTC has grand plans for new releases
If you’re a big fan of HTC smartphones, then you ought to be excited to know that HTC has a slew of of handsets waiting in the wings to be released upon the masses. HTC are also big on fancy names – at least those are a whole lot easier to remember compared to fancy calling cards that are attributed a convoluted combination of numbers and alphabets. Some of these new handsets have already been released, but those were not CDMA versions. To get the ball rolling, we have the HTC Vogue, Iris, Kaiser, Volans, Polaris, and Sedna.

Intel comes up with anti-cheating technology
Games are supposed to be fun, even more so computer games. Unfortunately, it loses its fun factor when cheats fall into the equation. The computer folk at Intel share your pain of meeting a person in an online server who seems to have unnatural reflexes and superhuman aim, and yet do not carry the handle Fatal1ty. How does Intel confirm your suspicions that this isn’t a really skilled player but someone who has been hiding behind the facade of aimbots? Let us read to find out more on how Intel develops technology that detects cheating in online games.

iLuv Wing, a Rotating Docking Station for your iPod or Yepp T9

iLuv has shown some hot new produts at SEK 2007 in Korea, and among them was the new docking system “iLuv Wing”. This docking station is fully compatible with both Samsung’s Yepp T9 and Apple’s iPod, and has an interesting design, with its ‘wings’ surrounding your player. One of the coolest features is that you can turn the dock connector horizontally to watch your videos, movies or TV series in a widescreen.

Voice controlled aircraft in the works
Voice control has already appeared on the GPS navigation system front, but now such technology has been successfully tested on a UK Army Air Corps Gazelle helicopter, enabling pilots to control aircraft systems by simply barking out comments. It leads me to think though, what happens in an emergency when there are a few crew members or give conflicting commands to the voice recognition system – or will the system automatically switch to a manual override under such trying circumstances? More about this new voice controlled aircraft system after the jump.

DARPA getting all “Potter-Like” with personal shield research
With a fifteen million dollar grant, DARPA is researching the feasibility of creating personal, self healing shields. The idea is rapidly looking to become reality thanks to “metamaterials,” a composite molecule is not only self repairing, but invisible to boot. Think of a Harry Potter like invisibility cloak that also repels a 7.62mm round from an AK47. The result hopes to be invisible body armor good for just about any combat situation that is lightweight, easy to deploy, can capable of return fire.
