Wi-Spy Spectrum Analyzer

by Mike

Wi-Spy Dongle
I’m not a whiz at wireless networks, and when mine started acting up a few days ago, it was pretty annoying to fix it. I tried resetting it, changing some settings (that only made it worse), changing IP addresses and odd dances. In the end, I never actually fixed it. I merely swapped the router with another one I had lying around, and fortunately that worked for me. Now, the Wi-Spy Spectrum Analyzer might not have fixed my problem specifically, but it could’ve and I’m sure it can fix other people’s problems.

writer recruitment
Things seem to be going a bit manic here at the moment, so it’s time to expand the team with one or more new writers.

If you enjoy finding new and interesting technology and gadgets. Can write in fluent English, have a somewhat humorous or quirky style, and can commit to writing from home (or work if you can get away with it) so many posts per week, we’d love to hear from you.

In return you will be paid on a per post basis, as well as having your writings exposed to 35,000+ readers on a daily basis.

If you’d like to apply please send a brief a bio about yourself and a sample gadget post (like the sort of posts you see here) to tips [at] coolest-gadgets.com. Thanks in advance.

iPhone Spotted at CTIA Wireless 2007

by Nick

iPhone

The iPhone made its second public appearance at CTIA Wireless 2007, in the lucky hands of Randall L. Stephenson, AT&T’s Chief Operating Officer. Randall even made a joke that he was testing the user interface, saying that was the first time he ever held the iPhone on his hands.

Punch Gun

Punch Gun

This reminds me of the punch gun you used to see on the old “Tom and Jerry” cartoons, take aim, pull the trigger and smack. Shame that range looks to be lacking some what.

Say No To Crack

I’m delighted to announce that we’ve just added a new award winning site to our network, Say No to Crack a humor for all ages blog. I’ve been a fan of SNTC for a while and when the opportunity arose (and it being the end of my tax year) I just couldn’t resist.

Anita, the main writer on Say No to Crack has done a fantastic job in building the site in such a short space of time and is the main reason why it won the 2007 Bloggie Award for best new weblog. Anita has agreed to continue writing with us and is a fantastic addition to the team.

Be transported to a new world

by Edwin

Making a living is tough, and despite the ever growing list of billionaires that we read about each year on Forbes, there are more people who are living in perpetual debt and face a whole lot of stress just trying to pay off the monthly bills and putting three square meals on the table for the family each day. Designer Alberto Frias developed the Transport, an egg-shaped vessel made from fiberglass that is outfitted with a couple of subwoofer speakers and an array of LEDs to provide the working class with a means of escape from the stress-filled world in which we live and work in.

Brain training in a small package

by Edwin

mini-brain-trainer.jpgBrain training looks set to be all the rage these days, judging by the amount of software (read: games) that challenge your pre-frontal cortex, especially on the Nintendo DS. What happens if you’re rather broke at the moment and is unable to fork out enough dough to pick up one of those handheld consoles? You do, after all, need to keep your brain razor sharp in thinking so you will be able to conjure up the next multi-million dollar business plan in order to snag yourself one of those snazzy portable consoles from Nintendo. The Mini Brain Trainer does exactly this, ensuring your brain stays on its toes no matter what your current age is.

The (very geeky) laptop shade

by Mike

Laptop Sunshade
You gotta love those gadgets where you go: Man, I wish I thought of that one. It seems dead simple because it is, only you weren’t smart enough to start mass producing and over charging for it. Now, the Laptop Sunshade is sort’ve one of those products. I’ve definitely thought of some sort of shield to block the light when using a laptop outside, but this little contraption seems to actually be a rather efficient way of doing it. It’ll work a little better than propping up a newspaper or map on a table. Both solutions will get you some odd looks though.
