Device that spots fake drugs
I’m not sure what kind of job you’re holding if you need this gadget, as you could be on either side of the law. Still, it makes a pretty interesting bit of news for all and sundry – there is now a device that is capable of detecting as to whether the drug in question is a counterfeit or not, even if it is still inside the packaging. I suspect that many border patrols and customs offices worldwide would be scampering to place an order as soon as possible, since it makes spotting fake packages so much easier. This gadget will also help cut down on the ludicrous amount of counterfeit medicines on sale in South East Asia and Africa.

Switchable glass does windows and mirror

We all welcome natural heat that filter through the windows during cold, winter months, but feel otherwise whenever summer rolls around. Japanese scientists have been working hard to design a new kind of technology that turns windows into mirrors, depending on the surrounding environment. These switchable mirror glasses are meant to be realistically compatible in all forms of buildings, houses, and cars. Imagine what looks like disappearing windows within a building whenever the weather gets too hot.

MouseTrapper Advance hates mice

I’m not too sure what the inventor(s) of the MouseTrapper Advance has against good old computer mice, but apparently there is enough hate to work on a gadget that eliminates the use of mice totally when it comes to using the PC. This device from Sweden supposedly removes the need to use any mice when you are going about your office work, hence lowering the risk of picking up some nasty repetitive stress injury many years down the road.

Doctors love the iPod, too

The mental image that most people have when the word ‘doctor’ flashes across their mind is that of a bespectacled person wearing a long, white uniform along with a stethoscope hanging around the neck. Unfortunately for doctors, there are certain times and situations that do not allow them to perform their duty satisfactorily whenver they are out of the office (read: hospital/clinic) due to the amount of external noise. Thinklabs has conjured out a solution by including one of the most iconic gadgets of our time – the iPod nano.

Time to dance to some Jedi grooves
This unique lightsaber is supposed to come with 8GB of internal memory to store all the intergalactic musical favorites while you are busy navigating your X-Wing through the Death Star trench. Apparently the presence of an LCD display along the lightsaber’s handle provides all the basic information regarding the song being played at the moment. Navigation is made possible by turning the base of the hilt in the preferred direction. The MP3 Lightsaber definitely takes a different method of controlling your playlist for those seasoned iPod veterans.

USB Battery Charger
Somehow or rather, I find that there is one similarity between the Sith and geeks – both of them can identify with the battle cry, “Power! More power!” while laughing their heads off. Ask any geek and he/she’ll tell you that there is nothing more depressing than having a gizmo run out of juice just when you need it the most. Unfortunately for us, most people still use non-renewable energy sources such as AA batteries that are thrown away once they are drained. I never really understood why these people don’t want to bother with rechargeable ones – perhaps the initial entry cost sounds more expensive than replacements in the short term. ThinkGeek has recently released the USB Battery Charger that is capable of charging up to four AA and AAA batteries simultaneously. It takes approximately four hours to fully juice them up, and best of all is, you only take up a single USB port in the process.
