Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is calling me now?

by Edwin

callerid-mirror.jpgSo you’ve just moved into your new pad and you want to dress it up as nice as possible. Apart from having to order plenty of furniture (where else are you going to plant your ass while enjoying that lovely 100″ plasma HDTV?), you definitely need to fill up your home with tons of electrical appliances. And for ladies who married geeks, this is a great time of bonding as both of you can actually share the joy of purchasing both furniture and appliances simultaneously, ensuring a harmony is maintained between teakwood chairs and Xbox 360s.

I just came across this video of an industrial robotic arm being used to perform a roller coaster like ride, looks very cool!

A diamond cover for your gadgets

by Dan

nokia.jpgA lot of people complain about their gadgets getting scratched every now and then, and it is the same story with iPods, cell phones, PDAs and the like. There are many protective covers available for most products, but it looks like Nokia is trying to reinvent the concept. The Finish house, in fact, is developing a new coating for cell phones made with diamond-like material.

The manufacturing process is not that simple, check out the description: “To make the material electric current is fed through coal graphite. This creates plasma, which is directed towards a plastic casing by high-voltage electrodes. The coal ions penetrate the surface and bond to form an amorphous, diamond-like coating less than 100 nanometres thick. The process works at room temperature, meaning even cheap plastics can be coated this way.” Continue reading » A diamond cover for your gadgets

The Wobbler

by Al

Wobbler Salt and Pepper

This is a strangely unique object, the Wobbler:

The Wobbler is made of metal, with a brushed chrome surface, and has an elegant ‘feel’ to it. It also has a strange ‘wobbling’ action if you roll it across a smooth surface. On a slight slope it rolls of its own accord, and almost seems to have internal propulsion. Definitely a very elegant WIF – a What’s It For?

You can see a video of it in action which reveals it’s hidden use.

Available to buy from Grand Illusions for £69.00, ouch!

Own Your Own Yellow Submarine

by Al

Worx U-Boat

U-Boat Worx have released the world’s first consumer submarine, the C-Quester submersible.

The C-Quester is capable of diving to a depth of 50 meters and as it uses a one-atmosphere system the pressure remains constant so there are no decompression problems. In order to operate a C-Quester you will need an Underwater Pilot License, which can be obtained by completing a 4 day training course with U-Boat Worx.

You can get both a one and two man version C-Quester and with prices starting at £65,000 (~$125,000) a bit of saving may be in order. More info over on the U-Boat Worx site.,

Home Leg Massager

by Al

Leg MassagerThis has got to be the dumbest looking massage device I’ve ever seen, the air massager.

The system comprises of 2 leg boot and two thigh massager’s which you wear. Air is then pumped around giving you a supposedly relaxing massage. These are definitely designed for home use only as they do make you look a complete pillock.

One thing that the air leg massager does have going for it is price, it costs £24.5 from News of the World Offers.

The closest thing to wireless power you’re going to get for quite some time

by Mike

Remote Control Outlets
I don’t think wireless power will be coming to market any time soon, probably because of the whole electricity going through the air thing, so, for the time being, we’ll just have to make do with what we’ve got. And we’ve got some pretty cool things, one of them being remote control outlets, which can give you up to 100 feet of range and can be used inside and outside of the house.

Get those wheels off the ground!!!

by Fred

So the folks over at Jalopnik, who by the way are awesome, and if you have ANY love of cars at all you shouldJackhole check them out (after coming here to Coolest-gadgets.com of course!)

They have a wonderful piece about how to jack up your car (in the good way, not the steal all the parts from someone’s car way).

I felt compelled to include this, as we have many a reader who can likely rebuild a linux system with one hand behind their head (it’s harder than behind your back ok). Yet, they likely had trouble identifying anything under the bonnet of their car, (see there, I used bonnet, not hood, do I get any English points?)

The nice thing is, well they go through the whole process for you. Which, if you’re a newbie at it, can help a bundle.

Furthermore, they tell you what you need to get, and thereby our gadget goodness comes into play. I could tell you what the best budget plan to do this is,,,but this is Coolest-gadgets, and quite frankly, this is how we roll.

With the SWEETEST setups. (follow the jump baby!!) (oh yeah, catch Continue reading » live timing for the Rolex 24 here (you have 22 hours left (starting now)!) Get those wheels off the ground!!!
