The TV show "Mythbusters" used a car going into the water to see how to escape it just this week. Contrary to what you may think, it is NOT easy to break the glass out and escape without using a tool. A cell-phone did not work, kicking it wasn't successful, (a rock usually isn't handy) and only a tool designed to break auto glass was a dependable way to break it. I'm getting one of these for each of my kids, as well as myself. It looked as if one of the tools they used was this one, and it worked well.

I don't care if it's improbably - I want to have those tools if I need them. And of course, the flashlight is handy on a day-to-day basis. A lot of companies that sell LED flashlights (ASP, Photon, etc.) charge $10-20 for just the light, so it's not like you're spending a ridiculous sum for the added protection.

Vat19 has them for a little more, but you can add a AAA kit and get free shipping, so that's cool.

Can always be done with a rock or any handy hard object..

Let us see:

I am inside the car, under water..

Rock .. no
CD-case .. no
Cel-phone .. no
Padded windshield defogger .. no

I am quite able to break a window.. but my girl .. nah ..
surely not with any broken limb..

Ben, thanks for the input! From a non-paramedic view like mine, the features make some kind of sense, but it is always good to read 2 different opinions.
