iHome’s iH36W for the kitchen
At first, I just used my iPod on the go, but now I find myself using it at home as well with my iHome, be it in my room, or anywhere else in the house. Now there’s a new iHome model out, one designed especially for a room with some space constraints (think under cabinet design).
All the components can be mounted under any kitchen cabinet that’s long enough. Besides playing and charging your iPod with the dock connector, the iH36W will play FM radio, TV channels, and weather channels. In order to actually fit the iPod into the player, a push of a button reveals the slide out compartment; once in, you can close up the compartment, with the iPod inside, then, song data from the iPod is displayed on the unit’s three-line display.
Every iPod, including the shuffle, is compatible with the unit, although you might have to fiddle a bit to get iPods with cases on in. Included in the box is a small remote which can control your iPod and other radio functions, along with all the mounting hardware you could possibly need.
iHome’s iH36W is a nice gift idea for someone who spends a good amount of time in the kitchen, but doesn’t have any space to spare for a standalone unit. Plus, it’s only $100 and can charge your iPod. That eliminates one charger from that glob of chargers you keep scattered around the house. Search around and you can find it for even less.
