Plantronic’s Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset
by Mike in Mobile Phones
Bluetooth isn’t something known only to geeks anymore. Tons of phones and even cars come with Bluetooth these days.
If you don’t have a Bluetooth package in your car, you can still use a headset so that you can use your phone wirelessly. Plantronics offers some high end, feature packed Bluetooth headsets that are expensive, but deliver some great and innovative features.
First of all, nothing matters if you can’t hear the person on the other line. To help reduce outside noise, the Discovery 655 uses Digital Signal Processing, or DSP, to reduce noise levels. The end result is a much clearer call. You’ll notice the sleek silver and black design on this headset, and even more impressively, it only weighs 9 grams.
Battery life is another primary concern for Bluetooth users because anything wireless takes more battery power than usual. The Discovery 655 has a unique charging system though; you can use three different methods to power the headset. You can connect the headset via USB to your computer, use an AAA battery which will charge the headset during calls, or just use a plain old AC charger. Using the AAA battery gives about 10 hours of talk time while the other two give only 3.5 hours.
If ever the headset is in its case and a call is received, it will vibrate and as soon as you take the headset out it will answer the call automatically for you. This is nice in case your phone is in a briefcase or bag.
The Plantronics Discovery 655 is a top of the line Bluetooth headset that has a nice range of innovative features from its ability to use a AAA battery or the vibrate ring indicator. The MSRP of this headset is pretty price at $150, but if you shop around you can find it for less.
