Based on the description, I’m guessing it’s what we in the northern U.S. call a ’swamp cooler’. I lived in Utah and they were very popular there for cooling your house.

I now live in Texas near the coast and noone here has heard of them. The reason? Humidity. Evaporation based coolers don’t work in places of high humidity.

So I was a little confused by the last part of your description about it being handy in a humid environ. ..anyway, thanks for bringing it and all of the other cool gadgets to our attention.. Great work.

Pat I noticed your comment about buying one and I listed one on Colorado Springs, CO Craig’s List yesterday. I have no inquiries on it yet. I posted the price for $10 that is pick up from my home here. It works great just not needed too much since we moved from the east coast 2 months ago.
