The main problem right now is the availablity of 3d content though the big content producers are starting up with it. It may take a couple of years more before 3d tv is widely available to the public but it's gonna be here for sure !

This sounds interesting. My first question when I read this would be if if this 3D effect is a "TV-set only" thing or if the broadcast signals have to be in a new 3D-format.
Anyway, I have perceived to be true that the better the resolution of a TV picture is the more 3D impression you get. And by far the best I have seen in this direction was the picture from a prototype Laser HD TV on a CE show. Without being especially aimed at 3D it really gave the impression of depths, not to mention the brightness and richness of the colors.
So I don't know if I would wait another 2 or more years for a 3D TV. I think I will be content with a Laser TV as soon as they will be available in early 2007. They're supposed to consume up to 75% less power as Plasma and LCD TVs, too!
