MAX-SIN Touch MP3 Player

August 18th, 2006 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets

The MAX-SIN Touch is a beautiful MP3 player. Even if the specs were terrible, and it was just torture to use, I’d consider getting it simply because of how cool it looks.max-sin-touch.jpg

Everything on the device blends seamlessly with each other. The scroll-wheel type thing you see is a red OLED touch pad, yep, touch pad. It’s also illuminated, so finding the controls in the dark isn’t a problem. The actual display is 2 colors (OLED). The resolution is 128 by 64 pixels.

The MAX-SIN supports MP3, WMA, WMA-DRM, and surprisingly OGG. The rest of the features are pretty standard for a MP3 player, although it does sport a voice recorder via an internal microphone. That can prove to be a useful feature for a newbie podcaster, or someone who likes to take audio notes.

It comes in two sizes, 512 MB and 1 GB. That’s a little disappointing, I’d expect most players to be in the 2 – 4 range, but 1 GB is enough for some. The battery is Li-Polymer and will last as long as 12 hours (tested while playing 128 kbps MP3s). The MAX-SIN supports Mac and Windows and uses either a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port to transfer data (cable included). The dimensions are 80.7 x 33.5 x 7.5 mm and it weighs about 30 grams.

There’s no word on pricing or availability yet, but it should be reasonable. Keep your eyes out if your one of those iPod haters but still want a great looking device with support for WMA-DRM.  More info is available at the MAX-SIN Touch product page.
