It&#039;s NOT [just] water!
It&#039;s got chemicals (albeit very few) to reduce the water&#039;s surface tension!  This reduces the amount of bubbles that get trapped underneath!

--&gt;Before they shipped the shields with the solution they instructed that one should put a drop of dish soap in H2O.  I should know...I had to do it, and it was a total bitch to put on. Took me about three fricking hours to do my iPod, but it was PERFECT!
If u run out of soap put a drop of dish soap in a bowl of water and proceed to apply the rest of the shield.</description>

		<description>I put Invisibleshield on my Garmin76CS GPS and my iPod.  The GPS rides on my Harley handlebars on long trips and the iPod is in an inside pocket- always.  lots of in and out during trip stops. no scratches on either - ever- after more than 8,000 mi of touring.  IMO  Great stuff.  really tough</description>
