Robot that Can Walk on Water
April 26th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets
A professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh has developed a robot that can run on water. Inspired by the basilisk lizard (AKA the Jesus lizard), the robot has paddles for feet which by “slapping” on the surface of the water give it both upward and forward momentum.
Other than the obvious cool remote control toy market the robot could also have a serious use in the field of search and rescue and it just goes to show how much we can learn from the animal kingdom (I actually sounded serious on a post then).
You can read more about it on Discovery.
