April 18th, 2006 by Lexia in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Solar Powered Gear
As the summer is right round the corner, we’ll all be gabbing a little more on our mobiles - avoid the dead phone scenario by picking up a Solar Mobile Phone Charger. This nifty little charger is equipped with adapters for Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung phones.
The charger can recharge a battery in just 3 hours when exposed to bright sunlight. It’s ideal for the sun-worshipping holiday maker who wants to avoid buying a gazillion international power adapters for their mobile.
The Solar Mobile Phone Charger can also be used to charge almost all of your rechargeable small gadgets including CD and MP3 players, digital cameras and PDAs. It’s even got a car and an AC adapter that can be used to supplement the power generation of the charger’s solar panels.
The charger comes in a handy plastic clam-shell. This neat form factor opens to reveal a pair of solar receptors. The dimensions of this ingenious charger are 88 mm long, 60 mm wide and a mere 2.3 mm deep and weighs 88g. The charger can operate in most ambient environments with an optimum temperature scale of between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius and an operating voltage range of 4.6 to 5.5 volts.
The Solar Mobile Phone Charger is available from Urban Junkies for £21.95.

April 26th, 2006 at 12:21 ami think this is a great idea but just means more things in your pocket, they should design a contraption that fits in all houses and offices so soon as you walk in the house or office it will automatically charge your phone, now bet that has got you thinking.

April 26th, 2006 at 3:17 pmMark, I think that’s just around the corner. It’s inevitable that as more and more utilitarian gadgets get used, the demands of powering them on-the-go will increase. I think that this will be the spur that manufacturers of chargers need to invent new and more general-purpose recharging units.

June 28th, 2007 at 5:45 pmThis sounds really cool. Although I have to admit to being aa bit of a newbie where this is concerned. Now ive found your blog which seems to be an excellent resource, i’m going to bookmark you so I can check back here to learn more about this. It sounds really cool. I wonder if this can be done with a Moto SLVR L7? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.I have been thinking about buying a more up to date phone that has better capabilities, perhaps you might also give some advice on which handset would be best suited for the job.
Many thanks
