Robotic Pool Cleaner

by Al in Home Gadgets

Electronic Pool CleanerSo you’ve got a nicely heated swimming pool thanks to the solar powered pool heaters, but the pool guy hasn’t turned up and you really don’t want to get your hands dirty doing it your self, what you need is Aquabot; the robotic pool cleaner.

The Aquabot sounds pretty cool, it can clean a fifty foot pool in under an hour, by a combination of water jets, scrubbing and sucking. It impressively filters out impurities as tiny as two microns, 1/50th the width of a human hair.

It’s a bit costly initially with the unit being nearly $1,500 but hey it does mean you can fire the pool guy. You can get further info and buy online at Hammacher.

Hey, if you can afford a pool, what’s another $1500 for a robot to clean it? :D

I have some relatives who have a pool and the last time I was there (over 20 years ago), they had a neat little thing that you just connected to the pump and chucked it in. It would then sink and randomly wander around the bottom sucking-up leaves and other nasties. It was only around $200 and definitely not as sophisticated as this, but if you’ve got a pool and are “poor”, then maybe there are options other than blowing $1500.
